The first house

The first house is you as others first meet you: your body, your face, your manner and the way you start things. Its cusp is the rising sign.

What the first house covers

The first house starts at the ascendant, the degree rising on the eastern horizon at your birth. It describes your body, your look, your temper and the way you walk into a room. Planets here are hard to hide. A Mars in the first house shows in the jaw and the pace. A Neptune here can make you hard to read.

It hath signification of the life of man, of the stature, colour, complexion, form and shape of him that propounds the Question, or is born.

William Lilly, Christian Astrology, 1647

Transits through the first house

When a slow planet crosses your ascendant and moves through the first house, you change how you show up. People often change their look, their name or their goals in those years.

Your the first house

Houses come from your birth time and place. The sign on the cusp of the first house and the planets in it are yours alone. Solstice works them out and tells you when a planet moves through it.
