Pluto in astrology

Pluto is the planet of power, loss and rebirth. It stays twelve to thirty years in a sign, so its sign marks a generation, and its touch on your chart marks a change you do not go back from.

What Pluto means

Pluto stands for what lies under the surface: power, control, grief, sex, money owed and what we keep hidden. Where it sits in your chart, you go deep or not at all. When it crosses one of your planets, something ends so that something truer can start. The process is slow, often years.

A small world far out

Clyde Tombaugh found Pluto in 1930. In 2006 astronomers called it a dwarf planet. Astrologers kept it, because its timing in charts still works.

Pluto in your chart

Pluto's orbit is long and uneven. It goes around the zodiac in about 248 years and moves fastest through Scorpio. Pluto squares its own place in your chart somewhere between your mid-thirties and your fifties, depending on the year you were born. See Pluto square Pluto.
